Picture/Image
tip By Trent Partridge Internet Marketer/Photographer/Author
Did
you know top search engines and directories Yahoo, Google and MSN
all have
either an image or picture search? It’s true. Millions
of images are searched daily on
Google alone. I recently went to
a website I previously managed and found that
the
website was getting
over 4,100 visitors a day.
Like
damn! I did a great job of search engine optimization! Yes, I was
patting
myself on the back and giving myself tons of credit. I looked
for the keywords
in the search engines and could not find any of
them ranked. Then I did something
I rarely do, I looked for the
keywords on the image search of Yahoo. My images
were ranked in
Yahoo’s image search engine.
Every
picture that was on the website I renamed it to reflect the particular
person.
Before, when I initially received the pictures they were
named pic 1, pic 2, pic 3,
and so on.
Mya,
Nelly, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Paul, Janet Jackson were now all in
the Yahoo
image search pages from the managed website. Although
it took time to name all
the pictures, I felt it was necessary to
name every one of them. If I didn’t know
the name of the person
or image then I would name it a keyword that it looked like.
For
example, I used keywords like hot import cars, hip hop models, import
show
cars and hot pictures as names for images.
Nugget:
The key thing is I took the time to name a lot of images. I did
not know
naming image keywords would get me 4,100 visitors a day
but it did. And… now…
I pass this secret discovery on
to you.
Are
your pictures named? Most picture names look like this “DSC_090.”
This is the
numbers standard for digital cameras name pictures.
It is your job to change your
pictures to the right name.
For
example, if your name is Jamie Steel then, your pictures should
be named Jamie
Steel. If you are Jamie Steel, an actress then your
picture should be named Jamie
Steel Actress. If you are in a specific
city, wearing a swimsuit, playing an
instrument or acting in a movie
then your images should reflect that specificity.
Below are some
examples on how your pictures should be named.
Nugget:
Whatever a picture reflects then that should be its corresponding
name.
So, in the long run when you are rich and famous and people
search for your name
then your pictures will always pop up.
